How the heck do you find commercial jobs? Is there a website people use or a service you can subscribe to in order to find jobs for photographers? Traditional job sites (like monster, snagajob, craiglist, etc) are a joke. I get that networking is a big part, and I'm willing to that, but there has to be a job posting board somewhere.
Answer:
It comes down to the work you create followed by the network of people you meet and get to know. Relationships is the key word in bringing in commercial work. There aren’t any “job boards” so to speak. Word of mouth, referrals, previous clients, and then known sources for good photographers like photography reps, source books, etc. You have to pound the pavement a lot to find new people to connect with, show your work, and build relationships. Sometimes you’ll have a meeting and you wont get a job with them but they liked your work and they liked you and they pass your name on to someone they know.
Relationships. Relationships. Relationships.
